
Ingredients baklava
1 lb Chopped Nuts
1 cup Butter
1 tsp Cinnamon
16 oz package Phyllo Dough
1 cup Water
1 cup Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1/2 cup Honey
how to make baklava
Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter the bottom and sides of a 9x13 inch pan.
Chop nuts and toss with cinnamon. Unroll Phyllo dough. Cut whole stack to fit pan. Cover Phyllo dough with a damp cloth. Place 2 sheets of dough in pan, butter thoroughly. Repeat until you have 8 sheets layered. Sprinkle 2-3 tablespoons of nut mixture on too. Top with 2 sheets of dough, butter, nut, layering as you go. The top layer should be about 6-8 sheets deep.
Using large knife, cut into diamond or square shapes. Bake for 50 mins until Baklava is golden and crispy.
Make sauce while Baklava is baking. Boil sugar and water until sugar is melted. Add vanilla and honey. Simmer for 20 mins.
Remove Baklava from oven and immediately spoon sauce over it. Let cool. Serve in cupcake papers. Freezes well. Leave uncovered or it will get soggy.
